Raised and schooled in Toowoomba, Dr Powell studied medicine at the University of Queensland and graduated with Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery (MBBS) in 1991. He commenced specialist training in General Medicine at Princess Alexandra Hospital in 1994 and continued his Physician training in the United Kingdom in 1996.
After returning to Australia in 1997, Dr Powell commenced General Practice training and was awarded Fellowship of the College of General Practice (FRACGP) in 2000.
Between 1997 and 2000, he gained further training and expertise in Nutritional, Environmental and Herbal Medicine through the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM) and Australian College of Herbal Medicine (ACOHM).
Special Interest Areas
General Medicine, Diabetes, asthma, cardiac health and diseases of the kidneys, preventative medicine and health promotion, complimentary and integrative medicine, Nutritional Herbal (Western), Mind-Body, environmental, child heath, geriatric medicine & aged care.
Dr Powell has particular interest and experience in the management of chronic conditions such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
