Practice Information
Medicine On Second (formerly Plaza Central Family Practice) is a truly Sunshine Coast experience. Large, modern, air conditioned premises, local art works on the walls, fresh coffee and a central position in Maroochydore so getting to the doctor couldn’t be easier. Originally opened in Ocean Street, Maroochydore in 1991, in 1995, the surgery relocated to Plaza Parade, and finally in July 2006, the surgery relocated again to a larger purpose built premises at 50 Second Avenue. It is a large medical centre incorporating the latest medical equipment, spacious waiting areas and patient comforts. Medicine On Second is in a perfect location, one street back from the main road of the CBD, with ample car parking and a neighbouring pharmacy on site, all for your convenience. We just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and feedback which has helped shape us into the practice we are today. We couldn't have done it without you!

We are pleased to announce that our new website is now live. On the site you will notice a number of new features, including the ability to request an appointment at either Maroochydore or Forest Glen practices. This offers a quick, easy and discreet method of booking an appointment with your doctor if you are in a situation where you perhaps do not wnat to be overheard, but do have access to a computer and the internet.

What makes our service so special?
Reminder System - We know in the busy world we live in it can be difficult to remember appointments for ourselves or other family members. That’s why we have in place a computerized recall system. You will be reminded to attend the practice for an appointment by letter or email...just in case you forget! Children and babies- A designated play area is available for children. A babies changing area is available in the toilet areas in the main corridor. Please ask our friendly reception staff for directions. Facilities for people with a disability- Our practice is designed forwheelchair access. Should you have special needs, please discuss them with your doctor.
Waiting times...Nobody likes to be kept waiting. Our staff are all aware of this and try to adhere to appointment schedules. However our doctors do sometimes run behind time. We sincerely regret any inconvenience when this occurs. Please feel free to telephone us to check whether your doctor is running on time. Also if you think you may require a longer appointment, please let reception staff know so they can book appropriately. If you require any assistance, please feel free to ask one of our staff members. They will be only too happy to help.
More important information about our practices
In most cases, patients will be charged a fee for their consultation. A copy of our fee schedule and billing policy is included in this information sheet on page 11. Appointment times are precious. A $30 cancellation fee will apply if you fail to attend your consultation. There are certain situations in which your doctor may bulk bill a consultation. Again, see our fees page for more information Please note that the reception staff can help you claim your Medicare Rebate through the practice. A Medicare cheque can be issued or the rebate deposited directly into your account. Eftpos, credit card, cheque and cash facilities are available for your convenience. Vaccines Patients are encouraged to take advantage of free vaccines made available by the Federal and State Governments. Please ask our nursing staff or your doctor for further details. We also offer travel medicine and are accredited to administer Yellow Fever Vaccine. Appointments This practice operates an appointment system. A standard appointment is usually adequate to deal with most health issues. If you are making an appointment for an insurance or employment medical, procedure or complex/multiple medical problems, please book a longer appointment. Please ensure a separate appointment is made for each family member. Repeat Prescriptions In order to monitor your health and fulfill our ethical and legal responsibilities,we require that you attend your doctor (or if your usual doctor is notavailable,one of the otherdoctors) in order to receive further prescriptions for your medications.
What ever your preferred language, we can help you organize an interpreter to help assist any language barriers. Medicine On Second uses the Telephone Interpreter Service 1300 131 450 when required. We can organize an “over the phone” service or with 48 hours notice a “on-site” service. Please note also that Dr Nanu Grewal is fluent is Spanish, French, Italian and Punjabi! Sickness Certificates A certificate may only be issued after an examination by a doctor, so please make an appointment for this. Telephoning your Doctor Doctors in this practice may be contacted by phone during surgery hours. A message will be taken if the doctor is with another patient and your call will be returned when the doctor is available.

Management of your filesYour medical information is a confidential document. Medicine On Second often forwards certain medical information to other medical organizations i.e. Immunisation Register. This is a normal practice and is only for the benefit of patient health. All information at Medicine On Second is handled according to the present Privacy Act. Should you require further details, please speak to the Practice Manager (details below).
Receiving ResultsIt is the policy of this practice to have all patients return for a consultation for their results. One of the nurses may give results to patients over the phone only under special circumstances and if this is organized by the Doctor during your initial consultation.

These surveys are completely confidential and help us to improve our services. We believe that problems are best dealt with through the practice. New Fees effective 1 November 2007Private Patients
NEW BULK BILLING POLICY—EFFECTIVE 1 AUGUST 2008
Please note that as of 1 August 2008, ONLY patients who hold pension, health care cards, DVA or who are under the age of 16 will be bulk billed, regardless of whether you have been bulk billed in the past, and regardless of which doctor you see.
A facility fee will also be charged for those patients having a complex procedure. The fee will be $30.00 for private patients and $10.00 for pensioners.
The procedure itself will still be bulk billed. Dressing fees may also apply for those patients requiring complex dressings or expensive dressings. Where to find us...![]() ![]() |
