The 2020 Weight Loss Challenge is now finished.

The 20 week Challenge was a huge success with 29 challengers losing a total of 241.7kg in only 20 weeks.

The success of the challenge has raised at total of $32,500 which will go towards their chosen charities, the Berachah Orphanage in Machilipatnam in India and Maggies Dream Catcher.

Congratulations to the winner challenger Mick Sullivan for losing a whooping 26kg in only 20 weeks.

Thanks you to all the sponsors and challengers involved in the event. Stay tuned for more challenges!

Following the success of the new Twenty20 cricket format, local doctor, entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr Michael Ryan has launched Twenty20 program – the Twenty20 Weight Loss Challenge.

The concept is simple: take 20 middle aged local males, and get them to lose 20 kilos in just 20 weeks whilst raising cash for charity.

For every kilo any of the participants do not lose in the 20 week period, a fee of $100 per kilo will be paid to the challenges nominated charities with 50% going to the Berachah Orphanage in Machilipatnam in India and 50% going to Michael Ryan’s wife’s charity Maggies Dream Catcher, who are currently raising funds to build a hospital in Dharamasala, India.

If participants do achieve their 20 kilo goal within the 20 week period, they will still donate a $200 participation fee towards the nominated charities.

The Charities

Maggie's Dream Catcher
Maggie’s Dreamcatcher Dharamsala Hospital Project Inc. (MDDHPI) has been formed for the sole purpose of assisting with the building and funding of a hospital in India in Dharamsala and to aid with the supply of volunteer doctors MDDHPI has teamed up with another charity called Red Lotus.

Who is George is a colourful children's book which was written for the purpose of raising funds towards Maggie’s Dreamcatcher, a charity set up to build and fund a hospital in Northern India.

The book tells the story of a young girls dream to help a young sick boy living in Northern India in the village of Dharamsala. Your support will help us reduce the suffering for the people of Himachal Pradesh in Northern India by funding a new hospital providing qualified medical care.
