Medicine On Second Offers Same Day Service

28 Feb 2007 7:35 AM - The Weekender

Lets face it, no one likes going to the doctors. Why? Well for some it is a time factor, for some, it is worrying about the 'unknown' and for some others, it is just the thought of sitting in a dreary surgery. At Medicine On Second we have tried to address all of these factors says Practice Manager Nicky Jardine.

SAME DAY SERVICE

We offer a same day service to our patients, which means whether you require a prescription, have an emergency or require an involved consultation, one of our doctors will be able to sonsult you on the day. The great thing about Medicine On Second is that all health records are networked, so no matter which doctor you have seen in the past at Maroochydore or at our new surgery at Forest Glen, there is no need to transfer from one doctor to another, all doctors can help.

SPORTS INJURIES / EMERGENCY MEDICINE

Doctors at Medicine On Second see a range of accidents ans sports injuries caused by surfing (fin cuts), footy (sprained muscles, fractures) or the simple household accident (instead of cutting a carrot, you have tried to cutr off your finger!) We have a professional team of doctors and nurses who are used to dealing with trauma, and can steer you back onto the footy field, back in the water or back to the chopping board!

KID FRIENDLY

Our practice is bright and colourful. We have a children's "play wall", colourful artwork and furnishings, and a fun environment created by doctors and staff. Our doctors themselves have young families and understand the trials and tribulations associated with childcare. They have a genuine interest in children's health and are associated members of several organisations which promote child health.

ARE YOU AT RISK OF CHRONIC ILLNESS?

Chronic Illness can be everything from diabetes, a stroke, heart disease or cancer. Whether you have any of these conditions now is irrelevant. The most important issue in your late 40's, even earlier, is prevention! Excessive drinking, smoking, skipping breakfast, obesity, lack of exercise are all factors that can lead to chronic illiness. It is important that you get regular assessments, just so we can check to see if you are on the right path. For men, get a prostate check, for women regular pap smear. This is important. With some chronic illnesses, you only get one chance!

FINALLY...FLU SEASONS IS ALMOST UPON US!

Flu season is almost upon us. Our flu vaccines arrive shortly. Whether you are over 65 years old or fall into a "high risk" category, now is the time to talk to your GP.
